What to Expect
Once you are signed into clinic, an undergraduate will escort you to your patient room and record your vitals such as heart rate and blood pressure, in addition to your reason for visiting clinic. A medical student will then perform a basic check-up to address your medical concerns. Afterwards, the medical student and undergraduate will present their findings to the physician, who will help you address your medical concerns and discuss further care as needed.
What We Screen For
We typically see a variety of patients with all types of concerns and questions. We commonly screen all patients for:
Cardiovascular disease (hypertension, heart disease, heart attacks…)
Pulmonary issues (asthma, COPD, pneumonia…)
Metabolic disorders (types I & II diabetes, thyroid issues…)
Psychiatric illness (depression, anxiety, schizophrenia…)
And many other common illnesses such as lice/scabies, wound infections, colds, etc.
We also do work and DMV physicals.
Labs and Medications
If the doctor orders a blood test, it will be performed the same day as your appointment. To make the blood draw easier, we recommend drinking plenty of water before or during your visit. Results are usually available the following clinic.
If we cannot perform a blood draw on the day of your appointment, you may be asked to return the following week to try again. Let the next week’s receptionist know you are there for a blood draw when you check in. We will only see you for the blood draw the following week, but if you have another pressing medical concern we can add you to the waiting list for that specific clinic day.
The doctor may also prescribe medication for you to take. We have an on-site dispensary with basic medications, but we can write a prescription to an outside pharmacy if needed or preferred.
